Code Rescue

A cozy coding game. An AI made Code City forget how its own code works – and the city went dark. Find the bugs, write the missing code and bring it back to life, one line at a time.

Steam PHPolygon PHP · Python · C# · JavaScript · Rust

Code City stopped working.

An AI promised to take coding off everyone’s hands – and over that, the city forgot how its own code even works. Streets lie still, lights are out, whole quarters are frozen. The code is still there. It is just broken.

Your job: get it running again.

You start by repairing: a wrong operator here, a missing condition there, a gap to close. Step by step you go further – predict what a piece of code prints, review someone else’s code, write whole functions yourself and clean up code that works but is a mess. And with every task you solve, a piece of the city wakes up: lights come on, machines start, colour returns.

Coding that does not feel like homework.

Code Rescue is peaceful. No time pressure, no failing, no high-score chase. Just you, a puzzle you can actually understand, and a city visibly grateful that you figured it out. Beginner-friendly enough for your first line of code – and honest enough that you really learn something.

What to expect.

01

Code that really runs

PHP, Python and JavaScript run in real runtimes, C# and Rust in built-in interpreters. Fill the gap, find the bug, predict the output, write it yourself, refactor – around 190 tasks.

02

A city that blooms with you

Every district rebuilds in five stages, from ruins to full splendour. Bring wind turbines and solar fields online with your own code.

03

A gentle start

No timers, no failing. A typing trainer, a character doctor and the compendium help you get going, and REPL keeps you company – with tools that grow with your rank.

04

A stance, not hype

A calm counterposition to the "AI does everything for you" promise.

Because nobody understands it for you.

Code City collapsed because everyone relied on the AI to sort it out. That is no coincidence, that is the idea behind it: AI is a tool – not a substitute for grasping how something works yourself.
